José Venturelli

1924 - 1988

José Venturelli Eade (25 March 1924 – 17 September 1988) was a Chilean painter, engraver and illustrator, best known for his work as a muralist. Together with Julio Escámez, Fernando Daza Osorio and Pedro Olmos Muñoz among others, he is considered one of the main representatives of the Chilean muralist movement, largely influenced by Mexican muralism. His works are often characterized by an engagement of the social and political realities of his time, also linking him with other Chilean artists such as Carlos Hermosilla Álvarez and Pedro Lobos.
