Shen Zhou

Shen Zhou, born in 1427 in Suzhou and died in 1509 in Suzhou, was a Chinese painter known for his landscapes and literary works. His paintings, such as 'Poet on a Mountaintop' and 'Lofty Mount Lu,' are celebrated for their poetic beauty and use of ink, capturing the essence of Ming Dynasty culture and nature. Influenced by the Wu School and his contemporary Wen Zhengming, Shen Zhou's technique involved a lyrical and expressive approach to composition and brushwork, conveying the harmony and spirituality of the natural world.
