Francesco Solimena

Francesco Solimena, born in 1657 in Canale di Serino and died in 1747 in Barra, was an Italian painter known for his religious and historical scenes. His works, such as 'The Triumph of Judith' and 'The Apotheosis of St. Benedict,' are celebrated for their dramatic compositions and use of color, capturing the essence of Baroque spirituality and grandeur. Influenced by the Neapolitan Baroque tradition and his contemporary Luca Giordano, Solimena's technique involved a dynamic and monumental approach to composition and color, conveying the intensity and depth of his subjects.
